I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science Department at NC State University. I have been working under the advisement of Dr. Munindar P. Singh since 2019. I completed my Master of Science (in CS) from NC State University in 2019 under the advisement of Dr. Collin F. Lynch . My dissertation applies deep-learning techniques to extract insights from unstructured text, including contracts, user content (such as social media and online reviews), and news, and integrates social science theories into computing to enhance our understanding of social media influence.

I am passionate about exploring the ethical and social implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and aspire to create computational frameworks to identify and mitigate the adverse effects of AI on society. My current research centers around Large Language Models (LLMs) and explainable AI , with a focus on model evaluation and alignment. Particularly, I am exploring approaches such as contrastive learning (like Siamese Networks) to enhance learning, model pruning to mitigate misalignment and create Small Language Models (SMLs) , and vector subspace projection to create interpretable word representations.

My industry experience includes two years as a Member of the Technical Staff at Oracle, working on public cloud software deployment infrastructure, and shorter stints as a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for companies including Lenovo, Seagate, and Coupang. I served as a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Analytic Science for SCADS (Summer Conference on Applied Data Science) 2024. My leadership and teaching contributions have been honored by NC State University with awards such as Outstanding Student Leader (2023) and Outstanding Teaching Assistant (2021) .

Ongoing Research Projects

Political Correctness in AI

The Project aims to evaluate political correctness in LLMs using a multiagent social simulation for evaluation

War or Peace Journalism

The project aims to produce computational models to differentiate war and peace journalism. We apply contrastive learning using Siamese network training on LLMs

About Me

I was born and grew up in Varanasi, India. I lived in Bangalore, India for six years before moving to the US. Post work, you can find me working out at the gym, jamming music with friends (I am a flutist), listening to a podcast, or reading a book. I love hiking and being amidst nature. My latest expedition is to hike in all US National Parks (I have covered 12 so far)

Here's my resume.
